Press Release: Viacom Purchases Nick-ify

Hey there, folks! We have some very exciting news that we wanted to let you know about today. Nick-ify is extremely excited and very thrilled to announce that we've joined the Viacom family! We are now a wholly owned subsidiary of Viacom. For full details, read the official press release below:
NEW YORK, NY - Nick-ify.blogspot.com, an online property dedicated to changing iconic brand logos into their text-only versions, has just been purchased by Viacom, Inc. for the sum of $5.2 million (USD) in a transaction consisting of cash and stock. Nick-ify will be housed under the Nickelodeon Virtual Worlds Group (NVWG), a division within Viacom's MTV Networks that builds online virtual worlds for kids. Nick-ify has covered alternate versions of the famous brand logos that look similar to the current logo of Nickelodeon, one of the NVWG properties that Viacom acquired in the 1980s, since its startup in November 2010 and will continue to provide coverage to its large user base.

Nick-ify's new mission under the Viacom umbrella will be to cross-promote multiple MTV Networks brands and introduce users to other NVWG brands who may have not been previously familiar with brands such as Spongebob Squarepants, Team UmiZoomi, Big Time Rush, etc. The newly planned promotions and events will commence this spring.

We're super excited to be joining the fine folks at Viacom, and to celebrate, we're releasing a new site theme and a new logo to replace our older theme and text-only logo! Let us know if you like our new look in our comments, and it'll become the new Nick-ify Default!

And while you're sounding off in our comments, be sure to let us know what new content you'd like to see. Now that we'll be posting about all of Nickelodeon's brands, the sky's the limit, but we want to hear what you want to see! :)

By the way, Happy April Fools Day on the Web!

No More Moose and Zee

now who these creatures are?

Moose and Zee.

And Moose does NOT like candy corn.

But that’s not the point of this post.

No, the point is that Nick Jr got RID of Moose and Zee on March 1, 2012.

I’m a person who likes change sometimes. For starters, I watched how the channel was suddenly called Nick Jr when for years it was called Noggin. I still call it Noggin sometimes.

Then..

Well, remember this guy?

Face.

He came BEFORE Moose and Zee on Noggin. Excuse me, Nick Jr. No wait, Noggin. It was Noggin when Face was on. Or was it? (DO YOU SEE HOW CONFUSING THIS ALL IS?)

I guess Nick Jr wants to revamp its image which is why they got rid of Moose and Zee. Or something. I picture a bunch of bigwigs sitting around the table and one is like, “Let’s get rid of the moose and bird. What purpose do they serve?” And then the other bigwigs, who lost their imaginations at the age of 3, start stroking their chins thoughtfully while going, “Hmmmm…great idea..”

Here’s my comment to the bigwigs: stop trying to compete with the Disney Channel. Be different. That’s what sets you apart. Get rid of annoying Dora, who by now should be old enough to figure out her own way, and bring Moose and Zee back.

Come on. Do the right thing.

If something HAS to be rid of, how about we say goodbye to creepy Yo Gabba Gabba?

Of course then my daughter would be like, "Ahhh, Brobee! I love him so much!"

I know odds are that we'll never see Moose and Zee again. But maybe, just maybe, a bigwig will have a heart.

Or have a tiny child who keeps whining, "Daddy, bring Moose and Zee back! DADD-DDEEEEEE!"

Never underestimate the power of a whining kid.
